My feeling has been very similar to Ed's. Its gotten a little boring. S was on such a roll for a few years with so many new products that it was hard to imagine, or to believe. Maybe it spoiled us and we expected to continue to be spoiled. I too am a passenger car fan so a new passenger car or loco is a big thing to me but a new freight car usually is not. I realize I am in the minority as a passenger train freak. I have gotten excited over the improved "Tom's Turnouts" and especially that they are now available with code 125 rail. And I hope I get a chance to get excited someday when and if SHS produces E7s, and then I will ask for E6s! Ed mentioned repaints of old products. I could get pretty excited if SHS switchers or AM GPs became available in Southern's black tuxedo scheme or L&N's black and cream scheme. But what I would most love to see would be a heavyweight dining car (full length or 70 footer) added to AM's lineup of heavyweight passenger cars. I was happy to see the brass steps that Bill Wade announced last week for the AM heavyweight cars. I will be ordering a number of them. - Earl Henry, Nashville, TN ============================= In a message dated 7/22/2008 11:54:09 A.M. Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
Gents....Perhaps I am from a different planet, but I have not noticed hardly any new MAJOR products becoming available in the past eighteen months or so. In the loco department, River Raisin Models' SP steam program is wonderful, but not here yet. Same with the 0-6-0. Not to mention Budd cars. Lotsa announcements, but no hardware at this time -- although RRM's SP stuff is enroute from Korea. Good old Jim King has released some new resin freight car kits. But what other new (not mere repaints) freight cars have recently become available? No new passenger cars at all. Seems to me that new S products are, for the most part, MINOR things like details, smaller structures, decals, etc. BTS, being an exception to my general observation, has announced some larger S structures, but that is about all in the structure department. Am I missing anything truly significant here that has become available (read: in stock) during the past two years?
