Caboose does not make an S gauge version.  Often guys in S scale use some HO
version.

I use the O version for hirail at home and for our .code 148 modular layout.
The reason for this is that the hirail turnouts need more throw than the
scale versions.

No, but there is very little difference in the size of the HO version
and the N scale version, at least as far as ground throws are concerned.

I have a photo of an Atlas switch conversion with an N scale ground
throw in the Files section
