"S"ay Jim.....Y'otter grab John Degnan outter his cave and come to an
NASG convention and see what S scale's 21st century is all about.
It 'tis a treat -- especially your first one -- but I wouldn't
wan'cha to spend too much time away from the pattern making machine.
Even better idea would be to have the NASG convention down your way
in the near future so we all could see those "S"mokey Mountains and
your molding/casting machinery. I suspect Jim Schall and the boyz
could put on quite a show.
If'n either of youse guys get to California, the BASS group here in
the San Francisco area can show you lots of S brass (and plastic and
zamac and so forth) running on a variety of layouts. SP, WP, WSLCo,
NYC, Colorado-type Sn3, etc. are all represented -- not to mention
proto freelanced.
Y'might consider the O SCALE WEST+S convention which is generally the
first or second weekend in February each year in Santa Clara, CA.
Even some mid-westerners come here in order to escape the harsh
winters. Dan Navaare has almost reached the status of becoming
a "regular" which is really neat beause he brings his wife along.
She really likes the OSW+S convention because it sure beats shoveling
snow while Dan gets all those brass engines to work right near the
warmth of his fireplace. It will be interesting to see if he
continues to come here even after he sells all of us SP steamers and
our wallets are flat.
Here is how to do it on the cheap: Call up Citibank and ask about
their promotional offer for a new MasterCard Business credit card.
When I got mine, the freebie offer was 25,000 frequent flier miles on
American Airlines. No other cost for the credit card. As soon as I
spent $750 on the credit card, the miles were posted to my account
and I got a free airline ticket to anywhere in the Lower 48. Cost of
travel is a non-issue since I will pick you up at the airport in San
Jose, CA. Gotter buy yer own food, however.
Cheers....Ed L.
