Hi Guys,
A couple days ago Marc Plank asked us to describe our layouts. Elsware,
Indiana is located
at the junction of the PRR line that ran north out of Richmond and the NYC line
that ran
west out of where ever NYC lines run west out of in that part of the world.
(Who really
cars? It's the NYC!) Don't look for it on a map, but it is in the vicinity of
Winchester or
Lynn. If you are wondering why Richmond, or even Indiana, it is because the
PRR shuffled
a lot of passenger cars in Richmond. Rather like Harrisburg, but a bit more
manageable
for an erstwhile S scaler who doesn't want to spend the rest of his life
kitbashing
passenger cars and shoehorning twelve tracks into a station scene. Elsware
currently
occupies a space of 16' x 3'. The crossings are in place and the PRR is
expanding out from
there both north and south. The NYC is facing a turnout very close to either
end of the
crossing, so it's going a bit slower. There is currently one functioning
turnout on the
layout, but one more is in place. It just needs feeders and track out the far
end so there is
a reason to run through it. Ties are in place for third turnout. Between now
and Christmas
I hope to install another five turnouts that would allow for some limited, but
meaningful
operation. Part of my problem in continuing construction is that darn SHS
2-8-0. With
sound it's fun to just move it back and forth over the twelve feet of track
that now works!
If I get ambitious I'll try to snap a few photos and bring them to Lowell.
