I think your need for Fast Tracks will be based upon the number of turnouts
you will build and whether or not you can use one or two standard designs.
You will have to determine whether or not you will expect a "return on
investment" using these criteria.
In answer to your second question, I "proto-freelance". You can look in

Fasttracks turnout making jigs. I've NEVER handlaid track before (though I
am learning slowly), and want to know if it is worth my time to get a
turnout jig and make my own turnouts or should I try to scrounge some up
from BK enterprises or dig up some old Pullman turnouts or something.
Likewise, how many people here are freelancing versus prototype modeling?
