The prohibition regarding sales is not a group rule. Instead, it is a
Yahoo rule. In Terms of Service, Item 6, Yahoo states:
> You agree to not use the Service to:
>
> g. upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any
> unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials,
> "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any
> other form of solicitation, except in those areas (such as shopping)
> that are designated for such purpose (please read our complete Spam
> Policy);
This is a complex issue, and there are no easy answers. What one
person says is spam, another person welcomes as promoting a product he
wants to buy.
I myself don't mind commercial announcements of products, because S
scalers don't have very many ways of finding out what's available.
However, this list is intended for a discussion of S scale. By
subscribing to it, I don't believe I agreed to receive postings of
used stuff for sale. (That is the purpose of other groups, magazine
classified ads, online auction sites, etc.) The good thing is that
such solicitations haven't gotten to the point of being annoying.
Where do you draw the line?
