The distance between two #5-equipped cars is 7/16", about 8" shy of
the 3' Ed mentions. I'm not sure the trouble of drilling new mounting
holes to rectify it is worth the trouble.

However, I do suggest you go to the "Files" section under "Bob
Nicholson" to see inexpensive, reliable, unobtrusive magnetic
uncoupling ramps and quit nipping the uncoupling pins from the
couplers, destroying the primary reason for using them in the first place.
