The problem here, which nobody can seem to understand, is that not everyone WANTS "AUTOMATIC, SELF CENTERING, MAGNETICALLY ACTIVATED S-SCALE COUPLERS." Some of us want something that is far more "REALISTIC" in BOTH its looks and its operation! GEEEEWIZZZZ... Why is this so hard to grasp, folks?
Yes, the Kadee and the SHS couplers work fine "IF" that is what you're willing to settle for in the looks category... because no matter what anyone says, and no matter how "close" they may be, they are NOT scale! And, I'm sorry, but you are wrong when you say "NO one's coupler is, or probably can be, an exact scale duplicate of a real full size coupler" because the original Sergent coupler WAS and IS exact scale SIZE... that is one of its main claims to fame. And yes, it most definitely did work "automatically" as far as coupling goes, regardless of the lack of a lift pin bar for uncoupling.
