Thanks for the education regarding the process.  I understand
a bit better now what probably happened.  Still, the end result
is annoying and I wonder how hard it would have been to 
put near-scale couplers/wheels on the box car before leaving for the 
NMRA convention which is primarily scale oriented.  Just another 
task for others to do -- as usual.  Back to ballasting.  As Rich 
said, "I need a hobby!"  Cheers...Ed L.
