support the cause but it's that kinda thing that puts a sour taste in
your mouth!.

Michael:

A long time ago I subscribed to "*************" and one day I
received a letter that the end had come and I had to decide what other
magazine I wanted instead of the one I subscribed to. No refunds
offered, in fact it was impiled there would be no refund. My
subscription would be "transferred" to another magazine. I then
subscribed to the "**********" when "*********" ran it. One year right
after my new subscription started and before I received any of the new
years issues I received a letter saying there would be no more
magazine's, and I would be offered a "one year" merchandise voucher
for other products instead. Once again I was not offered a refund.
The old "***************" was also rerun by another individual that
you sent money to and; You either never received any magazines, or the
ones you did were reprints of previous runs.
In all three of the above cases several "S" scalers have told
me that I was "wrong", I was, "at fault". I should have insisted on a
refund and since I didn't, I have no right to complain, or expect
anything.
There has been one "S" magazine that has lived up to their
commitment to "S" scale and their subscribers. The "S Gaugian". I buy
it occasionally at the local hobby shop. I currently do not subscribe
to any of the "S" magazines and never intend to again. To me it
appears the game in S scale magazines is to promote with other peoples
money.
I understand completely that in order for them to survive they
need people to write articles. It is obvious that this is extremely
important. I also understand that you should not expect to be
compensated much for writing. In fact expect no monetary rewards at
all! It takes a lot of money to put together a good magazine product.
What I don't appreciate is spending the time and money to put
together an article, deliver the photos, and data, then never even
given a "No thanks" for your effort. At least at MR they responded
that they received the draft!
I'll get off my soap box now. This is one of, "two" issues that
fans the fire for me. If you want to read the riot act to me. Please
do it off the list.
