I'm 18" away from driving the golden spike. We had to put our dog down
because of bone cancer and I couldn't sleep, so I layed all but the
last foot and a half. I've decided to wait for a happier time for the
official ceremony. Now I have to adjust the gauge on a couple of
turnouts, do a little wiring, and I can break in the locomotives that
have been shuffling back and forth.

The upper level mainline loop is 50' long, the helix to the lower level
is 68', and visible trackage to the lower level is another 22'. Total
of mainline trackage completed and useable is 140' (once the 18" is
added). Pretty exciting stuff. Do you know anyone who makes scale
golden spikes?
