As a recent new member of this group I would like to introduce
myself. My name is Alan Carroll. I live in Massachusetts and I model
in On30.
Recently I have been converting S equipment (scale) into On30. For
some people this is Sn42. I have discovered that the SW units
from "The Showcase Line" can be easily regauged to HO track gauge (
On30 & Sn42 ). Why do this? I enjoy kitbashing. I like SW1's and I
like to model New England narrow gauge as if it had survived and
flourished. Something similar to the Newfoundland 42" gauge and the
White Pass & Yukon 3' gauge.
Some possible benefits to S scale? Hopefully suppliers will see an
increase in sales and be encouraged to provide products that can be
used by other scale and/or gauges more easily. This should
increasing there sales and benefit everyone.
I know of a manufacturer of On2 equipment who also supplies his
products in On30. The On30 stuff out sells the On2 by a significant
margin but it covers the cost of the On2 equipment. More people
benefit.
At this time my kitbash conversions look more Sn42 than On30 but I
plan to make minor changes and add O scale details so the models
look more plausible.
No matter what scale and/or gauge you model, having fun is what it's
all about and right now I am having a blast. I enjoy all model
railroading and enjoy seeing what others build. I have posted some
pictures of my conversions in the photo section under my name. If
anyone would like to see how I regauge the SW's I have an e-mail
with a series of pictures with captions describing the process and I
would be happy to send it to anyone who wishes. Send me an e-mail
off group at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and I would be happy to send the e-
mail back to you.
It is good to meet you all.
