Yes there is and what you need is a keeper. Keepers (or armatures) 
are bars of iron or steel which are placed across the poles of a 
permanent magnet. They complete the magnetic circuit and minimize 
demagnetization. It may take a while but the magnet could lose a lot 
of its force without them.

A steel bar or even a nail or two will do.
