I really appreciate this information, but it would be a whole lot easier to
find later if a more relevant subject line was chosen.  I noticed that this
happens a lot :o)

While attending the Craftsman Structure Show this past week, I learned that
Radio Shack no longer stocks Etchant. For those unfamiliar with Etchant, model
builders have used it for quickly and very effectively weathering corrugated
aluminum sheet stock for roofs and siding. The side-effect of putting aluminum
sheet stock into Etchant, known chemically as ferric chloride, is the release
of a toxic and odious gas. Also, the solution that remains post-reaction is
toxic and may not legally be poured down a sink drain. While Radio Shack no
longer stocks Etchant, ferric chloride, normally used for etching circuit
boards, is still readily available at such locations as http://www.mgchemic
als.com/products /415.html

So, all is not lost. In the past, Turner Model Works has included instructions
for this process within their packets of corrugated aluminum sheet stock.

I have no personal interest in MG Chemicals nor Turner Model Works so this is
not an endorsement of either.
