Bob, Glad to hear you're making progress on the Shabbona. I recall some years back that MR published plans you had drawn for your version of the M&StL. I would have used them, but the space available to me in the basement did not allow it. Keep us informed.

The North Storage tracks have been completed which allows freight trains to be switched and turned upon arrival at Terminal District. The short crossover has also been restored to service and trackage extended beyond that point temporarily with a couple of pieces of flex track. This crossover permits using the using the passenger lead and the outbound as inbound freight train receiving and running tracks. Today, December 22, I ran the Powdertown Local commmuter job with a baggage car and two coaches behind RS-2 #34 down the Passenger Lead, uncoupled, brought the engine back the outbound and against the rear of the train. After switching it for the return trip to Powdertown, the whole train backed in on one of the KUD tracks and awaited the arrival of the morning freight train. The freight train came down the connector, crossed over to the Inside Lead at City Crossover, and proceeded through the puzzle switch into the Outbound. The engine(s) cut away and came back through the Passenger Lead via the Short Crossover and stopped clear of the KUD tracks. The Powdertown Local then left, after which the freight engines commenced switching the freight train in the North Storage Yard for the return to Mooar Yard. This is only a temporary arrangement until further construction at Terminal District can take place, and the main line becomes operational, but, hey, it's progress! Best of all, it works as I have envisioned it would for 30+ years, and I did it with one man and two throttles! C'mon over some time, and we'll do some REAL Railroadin'!
