One of the East's largest Scale only meets was at Timonium, Maryland , five
times a year. http://www.gsmts.com
They are now in their 26th year and until recently I made most of them. They
policed the isles, no collectors, no Lionel etc., etc. If found they were told
to clean off their table or out they go!
Finally, Howard Zane and crew had to relent and let the train collectors in.
Even this great show couldn't make it with out the R-T-R collectors - modelers.
Fathers and Mothers with their excited children roamed the flooded isles, it is
really neat to see this.
Why did I go to all those scale meets over the years? Because of the fellowship
and acquaintances that developed over the years in my model railroading. Hard
to believe that I did find some rare S gauge stuff there from time to time, but
over all it was like going to my favorite candy store when I was a kid. ( Back
in the 1930's, Candy stores were on every corner.)
We must have the exposure to get more into S scale, and that exposure comes
other collectors and modelers going to train shows.
Hope this helps.
