I believe that there are many comments about ballast in past notes, go to our Yahoo Groups website and search in the message archives. My measurement of ballast is that most is 2-3 inches in diameter, minimum 1 inch, maximum 4 inch. My favorite ballast is bird grit from the local farm supply store; looks like granite, is CHEAP (cheep)! Ted Larson
