I began to be weened off of hobby shops when I took up O scale. Though slightly more accessible than S, it's still a small presence. The O scale internet footprint is far larger than S. Lots to see and remarkably, almost all that you see can be purchased. I've come to realize that a few shows are almost the only place S can be viewed before a purchase is made. Why should that matter? except that if you see it in person, it's probably available for purchase, and you'll know where to get it :o) If it were not for the Internet, I would not be in S Scale, period.

Ninety nine percent of the time I'll buy something that I can fit in or use. Ninety nine percent of the time I can't find 3/16th scale stuff in that Hobby Shop! (S gauge stuff, but that is not politically correct with this group) I'll bet you I have spent over $750.00 bucks in the past six weeks on this hobby, and all of it is from doing business on the internet. They are thankful, courteous and very prompt on their delivery. I would suspect that many that I've dealt with have Hobby Shops and also use the internet to make money. (I know Jeff Wilson has a Hobby shop.) Anyway, which came first is very easy in this instance ... The "Hobby Shop" of course! But they all can be winners if need be, its just we live in a different world nowadays!
