All,

When in the company of my fellow SPF brethren, I frequently hear. "I wished
a ____ was saved, referencing the PRR classes that did not make the "to be
saved" collection. I say nay! What was saved were for the most part the
bread n butter common classes that so marked and defined what was the PRR
steam power. I wished they were more recently shopped so some may still be
running today or that more then 1 of each was saved but that is another
issue. I am pretty happy with what was saved. The fact that the sole
surviving I1 is under the control of a bunch of stubborn misguided idiots
400 miles away from the rest of the flock, and K4 1361 sits idle like an
erector set project gone bad after $1M+ was spent on it is yet another
issue.

When discussing the carnage and almost total destruction of the once Mighty
NYC steam fleet, I am surprised that none of our little brain trust here has
not addressed or mentioned the real reason for it. The steel was needed to
be recycled into making the AMC Matador!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_Matador We all know what a success THAT
was!

Thank You,
Bill Lane
