Jim,
What is the significance of the "Orchard" in the name to get ORD? Is that the
Wolf Road bridge in the background? Didn't the New Line Subdivision of the
C&NW run through the middle of the airport? I heard a rumor that the North
Western had a couple switch jobs working at the Douglas plant at the airport
that used the prototypes for the River Raisin 0-6-0. Anyone make an S Scale
model of a C-54? Virtually all of the material to produced over 600 of the
C-54 came by rail. All the the lumber to build a 2,000,000 square foot wood
hanger/manufacturing building came by rail as well.
