Hi all --

This is a bit early considering that it is still Friday afternoon here, but I
have FINALLY found the perfect track spike. As I was doing my wiring
(FINALLY), I was able to spike down sections of track that had been left loose
to ease the attaching of wiring to the rail. Once the wiring was in place
(ta-dah!) I was able to spike down these areas.
To go back a bit, I bought some Walthers spikes from The Train Shop in San Jose
/ Santa Clara while takeing care of my Dad's estate. The spikes are perfect!
SHARP, long (5/16") and have a small head at $5.95 a package (about 500).
Being so sharp, I have yet to bend one (takes me out fo the bent spike society,
almost) and the extra length along with the sharpness really allows them to
hold on. For those who lay their own track, I highly recommend them --
Walthers part # 948-360.

Also this week saw some more structure building and track tuning as the wiring
progressed and I was able to run trains over long ago laid rail...

Hope everyone else is making progress too!

Have fun!
