  Bob, There are many prerecorded chips made for the RR hobby--roundhouse 
  sounds, machine shop sounds, & BTS sold them for his Cabin Creek Mine 
  that went on for a long time. For a custom recordable unit check into 
  Hallmark cards or Build a Bear. One of my cameras records voice data 
  that is downloaded in a WAV format but most of those devices only run a 
  few seconds. I would look outside our hobby.
