Hi Ed;

That is interesting, and maybe points to a hole in Google Groups security.
You have two posts from Feb. 2009. Possibly Bill posted a single message
to both this list and the Google group, you did a "reply all" and Google
simply accepted your reply because it was tied to a legitimate post.

At this point I'm not sure how much impact the changes will have on most
members. Assuming you get group messages by email, their may be no change -
yet! Yahoo has made the comment that email will not change -in this update-
so who knows what is in store in the future. I do not like the new front
page, will probably never create an "avatar" to replace the gray smiley that
appears by most messages.

Of greater concern is that the new format makes referencing past messages
somewhat more difficult since there are no longer messages numbers shown
(currently they appear on the search results, since that is still old
format). The fact that the old "front page" with the photo and group
description
is now buried behind the "i" About link on the left means potentially fewer
people will stumble on our group and realize what it is about, but I have
no way of knowing how many folks find us that way as opposed to searching
for us or following an external link anyway.

I will not write further on the subject at this point. My sense is that
the change, while not "good" and certainly not asked for, is not a full
disaster for our group (it appears it is for some others). It is still not
clear
to me that it is in the best interest of the group to try to move, as
satisfying as it might be to deprive Yahoo of the "users".
