Hi Ed --

Yes, it does work most of the time. NO, it is not safe on all plastics,
but most can handle it. Test a piece that you can live without, if you are
able. Do not soak the part in the fluid -- dip a toothbrush into the fliud
(full strength) and scrub the paint off (wear old clothes and don't do it in
your wife's favorite sink!). It might take several applications. Rinse
with water then clean with a detergent like Dove, then rinse thoroughly and
let dry before painting. If you have very hard water, you might want to do
a final rinse in distilled water...

Have fun!

To those who have used brake fluid to remove paint from plastic models: Did
it
work ok? Was the plastic unharmed? I have a couple of cans of brake fluid
that
I won't be using for automobile purposes and thought I might give it a try.
Did
you scrub the models ( using a old toothbrush )? Did you soak the model
using a
metal or plastic container? Can the fluid be diluted or must it be used full
strength? Inquiring minds want to know. : > ) .
