Subject: {S-Scale List} Re: Replacement Wheelsets for AM Locomotives

They mentioned that D bearing on NWSL's web site, and I wasn't sure what they
were talking about (being "D"igitally impared and all tht good stuff. All the
AM gearboxes I have had over the years have all had shouldered round bronze
bearings.

The other thing about NWSL is that on their contact page they act as if they
want to discourage communication because it interferes with the work they have
in progress, thus I smell a slow response time in getting answers and maybe
even products, and I don't want to wait that long.

Besides, the AM products have served me faithfully and reliably all these
years. (If you saw my trackwork you'd understand why I like them), but their
new replacement wheelsets don't look the same. Thus,I have made arrangements to
acquire some extra AM gearboxes from one of our list members.

If that works, I may send the original GP-9 wheelsets to NWSL with
instructions as to what I want done. I have no problem with the quality of
their work, I just need to get the GP-9 back on the road. SHABBONA yard crews
are setting up a squawk about using F-units as switch engines. You'd think they
would be happy that they aren't using string to switch cars!

bearings used by AM over the years. One of the shapes (round, I think) is what
NWSL uses on their wheelsets. The other shape (D-shaped, I think) is still
available from AM and can be send to NWSK for their use when building you a new
set of replacment wheels for diesels. The shapes described above are from
memory and might be reversed from what is stated. Good luck...Ed L.

NWSL does do custom work for a fee. Thus, you can have them do anything you
want if you pay for it. Cheaper to send them your preferred bearing and let
them sell you their standard replacment wheelsets. Just a thought....Good
luck...Ed L.
