Some good news....It's in production. The latest due date is the 3rd week of
December this year. That means they should be loaded in a container in a
couple weeks. As far as I know, it is the only mass produced diesel locomotive
currently being made in S Scale. That doesn't mean nobody else is doing
anything, just that the U33 appears to be the here and almost now. Think
holidays and give yourself a present.
I don't care if it has Legacy. That is what soldering irons are for. Mine
will take a trip down Tsunami Road. Swinging pilots? So what? This is S
Scale. A little Evergreen and some non-invasive surgery should take care of it.
Don't want to do the work? Pay someone or go to 3 rail and stare at that 200
lb extra rail running down the center of your track. HO is an option too.
Make sure you stop by the optometrist first though.
More good news for those that reserved the SP or EL. You are going to save
$80.00 over the four road names announced a couple months ago. Put the savings
towards your favorite decoder.
Don't like the road names offered? EL, SP, CR, NP, GN, BN. Strip and repaint.
Any model paint will do. Afraid to screw it up? The body is ABS plastic.
Infinitely more durable than styrene. Paint and strip until you get it right.
"Your" road didn't have U33s? I bet a connecting road did. No caboose? An
SHS International caboose is perfect behind the GE. I hear they got some in
stock over there so give them an order.
For the naysayers, wait and see. For the rest, give yourself a gift.
