Well Jim, since the telegrapher's were close by you perhaps could have
gotten them to put together some better sounds for you. Telegrapher's
themselves are getting pretty rare--when is the last time anybody has
sent something by Western Union that actually went by wire? Anyway, I
liked the sound effect.
And speaking of sounds and our departed friend Jesse Bennett. When I
last visited his layout he played a video that Lee Johnson (I think) had
shot. Occasionally there was a clacking sound. Jesse thought there was
something wrong with the video. I said no--that's your twin coil switch
machine firing! The sound of the solenoid can be pretty loud sometimes.
Now we come to the turntable--is there a published article on how to
build them someplace. I certainly don't have all the magazines stashed
away but I don't recall anything about them.
