Ken:

You will need to experiment to find how both wires should attach to the motor, 
preferably with another DC-powered locomotive. The important thing is, the E8 
should run the same direction as other locomotives when power is applied. If it 
doesn't, just reverse the wires.

Much, MUCH easier, to say nothing of cheaper, than installing and programming 
DCC modules
