Howdy!

I am one of those very few that model the Newfie RR in Sn42. CN, Grand Falls
Central (using Jim Kings 70T) and ASARCo RR's are all represented on my RR.
Most of my rolling stock is custom built. The stuff I can use is becoming very
hard to find (WA Drake 6000g single dome tankcar) are very hard to find and
still hunting for 5 more. I do have lots of the 40' PRS boxcars with narrow
gauge trucks. These were used on the Island with the truck to truck transfer
system once unloaded from the Rail Ferry.
I have started a layout of sorts. Doing an around the wall concept. Work and
Fire College to get my Capt's has taken up the last 2 years. So I just keep
building models and have gotten help from a few good friends as well. Just
completed 5 MOW bunk cars, AM gon and now pulp wood flats.
May post a few pics!
Have a great weekend.

Subject: {S-Scale List} Re: NZ Narrow Gauge

All,
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned The Newfoundland Railway to Joe. It was
gauged to 42" between the rails. Hence S scale rolling on H.O. scale track. It
covered both steam and diesel eras. I think that many H.O. scale loco
mechanisms could be converted to S use with new superstructures. Bowser and
Mantua come to mind as possibly being useful. The Newfie also ran standard
gauge cars from Canada by putting narrow gauge trucks under them. If I wasn't
so heavy into trying to model the CNR in the northeast, I'd give the Newfie RWY
a real good look. Modeling it offers a lot of usable stuff from both scales to
model it. I thought we had a couple guys on the list modeling it?
Going back to my lurker mode. O.K. Mr. Lane? <G>
Cheers,
Dan Waskes
