All,
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned The Newfoundland Railway to Joe. It was
gauged to 42" between the rails. Hence S scale rolling on H.O. scale track. It
covered both steam and diesel eras. I think that many H.O. scale loco
mechanisms could be converted to S use with new superstructures. Bowser and
Mantua come to mind as possibly being useful. The Newfie also ran standard
gauge cars from Canada by putting narrow gauge trucks under them. If I wasn't
so heavy into trying to model the CNR in the northeast, I'd give the Newfie RWY
a real good look. Modeling it offers a lot of usable stuff from both scales to
model it. I thought we had a couple guys on the list modeling it?
Going back to my lurker mode. O.K. Mr. Lane? <G>
Cheers,
Dan Waskes
