Don't know about harming the plastic, but acetone will debond super glue.
Nail polish remover is usually mostly acetone.

Subject: {S-Scale List} Window removal AF plastic passenger cars.

Have stripped a group of AF plastic ribbed passenger cars. After stripping
the cars ( Stripper did not seem to have an affect on the glue holding the
window glass- used oven cleaner ), I used hot water to help release the
windows. It seemed to help. Have used X type hobby blades to remove glued
areas. Very hard at times.
Question is has anyone done this and is there a remover of some type that
would work on the glue. The main problem is glue that is up in the top
flange that holds the window material, and the door window area is very
tight to work in. A lot of these cars sombody had tried to repaint and gave
up on, etc, and may or did have windows replaced and glued with super
glue or you name it.
Any ideas on a glue removers that will not hurt the plastic. Also will super
glue remover damage the plastic. Also has anyone an idea for a SS pai!
nt that looks good. Don't know yet they will be painted SS, but one of the
repainted stripped cars had a paint that looked very good ( Never liked the
mirror finish on the old AF and the new cars out there).
