I got really started in S scale (as opposed to Sn3½) when I got hold of some old Kinsman kits from about 1953 origin... guess what, they had full underbody gear... well, on the plans they did, you actually had to make up all the rodding etc from these, a cast brake cylinder came supplied. Came up good enough to win an award at the 1990 NZ Model Railway Convention.
