The windshield reshaping means that the plastic AM insert has to be
put into the "parts box" it is now useless. I planned to add clear styrene to
replace it and will leave the engineer's window "rolled down".
My PA's are going to be LV so I also had to remove the dynamic brake
grid. I had a junk AM FB shell I picked up so used a section out of that roof
to replace the d.b. grid out of the PA, worked out OK. I probably shouldn't
have, but I decided at the same time to replace the exhaust stack and turn it
90 degrees to represent the water cooled replacement turbo. That was a lot of
finicky sanding and scraping.
Great minds must think alike, after seeing Stan Stokrocki's D&H PA
(AF)with the new rounded roof, I decided many moons ago to work over my AF
PA's. Unlike Stan, or you, I just added styrene sheet down the center of the
roof to build up the height and then sanded, puttied, and sanded some more
until I got the curve that looked best to my eye. Unfortunately the arrival of
the AM's relegated the AF to the "projects to finish" drawer.
Did you go to the Syracuse Train Fair this year? I had planned on it
but illness prevented it. I was hoping to get one of your LV paintings.
