Doesn't work so well with carpenter's wood glue, I suspect, especially the 
premium titebond types...
As I noted, however, this is Ambroid acetate cement (which still did a pretty 
good job of holding things
together after a number of years, although I have long preferred higher-tech).
I have a pair of O scale Mullet River cabooses that were not very 
well-assembled (for a kit that expensive,
and the late owner had even paid someone to custom-build them, I thought a poor 
job) that have some
sort of crystaline adhesive that I have not tried as yet to dissolve.
