Bill,

I have ten QSI revolutions and you are mistaken about the NCE system not being
able to program the indexed CVs of the Revolution, I do it all the time. The
revolution without the programmer is a little more work to program then other
decoders but you get hundreds of times more programming options using the
indexed CVs. I like both the QSI and Soundtraxx decoders but I have a hard time
accepting the rigidity of the Tsunami, Soundtraxx need to bring out a decoder
that allows downloading of sound files and they also need to become more
willing
to implement user suggestions. The fact that the Tsunami is not users loadable
is a problem that keeps Soundtraxx from implementing changes quickly,
Soundtraxx
has to decide if they are going to stay in the decoder business or move totally
into their Surround Traxx product.

Merry Christmas.

Ed Sauers

Subject: {S-Scale List} H10-44 & sound

Ken,

Until something else impresses me more I am using the RailMaster deep bass
speaker exclusively - for everything. I just used 1 in the RSD5 last week. I
even use them in steam locos. At ***ALL*** times the speaker is pointing
upward through the smokestack or an open grill of some sort.

I have installed 1 QSI unit so far. I found it to be unnecessarily complex
when compared to the Tsunami. Further, you are pretty much required to get
their programmer box. Since they chopped a CV up into **TEN** CVs, NCE
cannot program much of it since there is not a "DOT" for programming CVs
like 151.1 etc Their biggest attraction for me would be that they are rated
for a real 2 amps while still being a usable size for S Scale. I installed a
4 amp LokSound unit that was the size of Texas - NEVER again!

But the 2 amp rating has not converted me yet. I will stick with Tsunamis
for now.

The H10-44 is starting to show up assembled. It might get me inspired as
well...

Thank You,
Bill Lane
