Bill,
Your "Old School" AF train reminds me of one of my first experiences with AF.
My neighborhood friend, Tommy McMullen, had just received a train set for
Christmas and called me over to see it. It was the top-of-the-line Marx set
and to me a great wonder. That same Christmas another neighborhood friend,
Larry, invited me to his house to see his train set.
Now that was a train set. It was 1946 or maybe 1947. Larry's parents had
bought him what I think was the top-of-the-line AF set, the Union Pacific
"Challenger" freight set. There was the big 4-8-4 and quite a string of
freight cars. To a five-year-old that was impressive.
Thanks for resurrecting a memory.
