All,
No, not my runny nose - running past my nose. As mentioned I had a true life defining moment when I first stepped into what would become my basement. I thought "wow - this is not really very big" ( About 900 SF) especially when compared to my father's house that is approximately 25% bigger. The 20+ year dream/lie I had been living and deluding myself with building "Wildwood to Pittsburgh" just got a major gut punch reality check. I had just been dealt a true space limitation. I was standing in it. Within 30 seconds I was "OK - I am good. I can work with this" And so it was. That is where I thought of "running trains past my nose in my house" eventually came from. I have also long asserted the thought when standing in any town railfanning (Woodbury NJ) I know there is track in Wenonah (south) and Westville (North). If can't see the track even if I know there is track I don't really have to BUILD IT. So looking generally forward trains "running past my nose" are all I really have to CONCERN myself with. That is where a rather small space can be effective in many ways.
