> I remember Barney

Barney was indeed an amazing modeler. The thing I remember most about his
layout was an offset scratchbuilt wood truss bridge with curved track going
over it. The wood was supplemented with vertical 'steel' rods at the
appropriate places. He took brass rods and threaded the ends on them. Then he
installed them into pre-drilled holes in the wood and slipped washers over the
ends (top & bottom) and then twisted nuts onto the threads. The rods actually
bore weight and nothing was dependent on a glue joint. Quite amazing. I will
miss him also. Ed L.
