I don’t think model trains is a big part of the overall economy for China or the United States.
This situation is not a pressing issue in the overall picture of things, as it was the doing of a company who decided they do not need to make model trains for every company who wants them to make them. I do not think the Chinese government is spending any times on this at all. Whatever one thinks about the Chinese in the area of patent infringement and the like, I doubt we'll see a takeover in this area.
