. . . . . . . . .I am hoping that somehow a solution will be found so that
we can again see the high quality items SHS, AM, and Des Plaines have
offered us over the years.. . . . . . . . . .

The above statement makes it sound as though S is now at a stand-still and
no one can buy anything anymore. That is not true, but even if it were, one
might get those unbuilt kits out of the closet -- or buy a BTS or SMMW
kit -- and keep busy. That worked for many of us for many years.
Ron Bashista of American Models told us yesterday that he still has plenty
of product on his shelves, and he brought along a new paint scheme on a GP9.
It's Norfolk & Western dark red with yellow lettering. He had a pair of
samples in a 2-loco box, the locos being numbered 500 and 512. I found
several pictures on the internet of N&W GP9s in the 500 series though not
those specific numbers. Some were in freight service, others passenger.
And some were running short hood front, others long hood front.
Incidentally, the pictures I found were all of blue locomotives. Does
anyone know of a source of N&W red loco fotos?
