As a suggestion, after wiring and using the bare wire, buy a bunch of
shrink or non-shrink insulated tubing, slice it lengthwise and slip over
the wire between the connections. It doesn't have to be a real tight
fit and if you want you can seal it with one of the liquid insulation
that even come in multiple colors.
I live on shrink tubing and liquid electrical insulation on my cars and
other projects where regular electrical tape doesn't work well.
If I do decide to go with a naked buss when I build my layout in the new
home, it is definitely the way I will go.
