George,  I have one that takes my two 36" curves without problems.  In 
my situation I have easements on both ends of the curves so the actual 
36 part is really only a foot or so.  I purchased the engine used so it 
had been tweaked electrically but I don't think any mechanical work was 
done with the frame.  I did have some minor problems with the pilot 
truck derailing, but just went to a little stiffer spring.
