I did a complete review for this e-group at the time. Earl Henry furnished sample Tom's Turnouts for me to assess, and I can tell you unequivocally that they work for both scale and hirail. The reason is a novel frog design with a specially-formed frog insert. The guard rails are merely cosmetic, and therefore are spaced far enough from the running rails so as not to interfere with any wheel type. Tom's products are perfect for people who want to/need to/have to run scale, hirail, and AF on the same layout.
