Wow guys, we seem to have it all going at one time, rail size, turnouts, what
we need, promotions, animosity. Sorry I have been tied up and will be leaving
for the rest of the week and miss all the fun.
Last week, I accomplished little on the layout as I focused on the Twin Cities
Division of the NMRA meeting. I felt we had a good meeting, we set up
"stations" for airbrushing, static grass, weathering and wood finishing/kit
building. The contest/display was sound equipted locomotives. A good idea but
not so good in reality as you couldn't hear the sound very well in the large
roundhouse space. Steve Doyle brought one of his big steam engines with
Tsunami sound. I know this engine will knock your socks off on his layout but
in the cavernous space, that was not demonstrated. The popular vote went along
scale lines, HO voted for HO etc....
I received some nice feedback on the project photos I posted last week and as a
result of good suggestions, the large industrial space will be the finished
good side of a large mill complex. The covered loading space will be for bulk
loading finished grain and a good spot to show off the airslide hoppers. The
open loading area will be for boxcar loading of packaged product. On the other
side of the viewblock, it will be teh receiving side of a large mill complex.
I think I will make a two sided sign, one side saying "Powdermilk Milling Pine
River" and the other side "Powdermilk Milling Twin Ports" I like the idea,
connected building but miles apart on the layout and it will be a long journey
for the cars to move from one end to the other.
Well, have a good week, hope everyone gets all of this out of their system, I
would like to discuss more modeling, operations, layout design ideas when I get
back in town.

Hey Jim K. How many years ago was it I drove to your house in Milwaukee to set
up the original module specifications and work on promotions? Wow, how time
flies.
