My 1:64 friends, I'm donning my nomex suit as I type this note - but I have to agree that the calls for an all S magazine are a bit parochial.
Following on the message of items usable in O-Scale Railroading magazine, here is another example of a non 1:64 source with articles that are easily adaptable to our chosen scale. I don't know how many of you know Alan Carroll of Colonial Drafting, but Alan has been using 1:64 scale (or HiRail) items for years to create wonderful models in his chosen scale, On30. IMHO, the proportions involved make this particular conversion nearly a two-way street - adapting On30 materials to create plausible free-lance models in 1:64 scale (or hi-rail) has many benefits. Check out his new Yahoo group, where he has posted photo essays of many of his efforts. Here is an extract from his post introducing his new Yahoo group, I recently started a Yahoo Group dedicated to "On30 Kitbashing" and that is its name. My intent is to show all the steps that I do during the process of kitbashing a model. If you are interested in seeing more about this engine and other past and future kitbashes here is a link to the website. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/On30_Kitbashing/ You are welcome to join and take a look around. You can add you own experiences with a kitbash model or just watch and see what shows up. There is still much to do on the website but I hope you enjoy it and find the information useful. I have started this On30 Yahoo Group for the discussion of kitbashing only. All other subjects are well covered on this and other On30 Yahoo group sites.
