Bill, et all,

I hate to disagree, but your statement is not critically flawed. "I wish I
had" is what makes this and EVERY hobby a hobby, passion, or lifetime of
research & collecting.

As a lifelong 1/64th scale collector (35 years) and having been in S-scale
modeler Railroading at some level for about 15 years (would have been longer,
if I knew that there was "S-scale" model RR equipment other than AF &
scratch-built at that time), I have to weigh in here.

If you didn't wish you had something, you wouldn't be looking for it, or
researching it, or building it, or sharing it, etc., the list goes on.

For an example, as a kid, many of us wish we had a magic wand, and could make
something real (perhaps a Train, a Truck, a Tractor, a Vehicle) shrink to a
small size toy that we could play with. Now that we are older, we can buy some
of these models as current production, we can hunt for others that have been
built in the past, and we yearn for others to still be built, or to be built in
higher detail that we have with modern technology and manufacturing methods.

In this world of "Political Correctness" we sometimes forget about
"Constructive Criticism" and "The Power of Suggestion", for fear that someone
will take it the wrong way. An old saying I try to remember, "The only dumb
question is the one not asked".

Being this is the "S-Scale" list here as a very suitable example. If we were
happy with running Flyer as "S-Scale" nobody would have ever modeled in higher
detail, and we wouldn't have such companies as S-Helper Service, American
Models, etc. making "scale" detailed models.

We as "S-Scale" modelers, strive for more detailed, more accurate, and better
running equipment and accessories for our collections, layouts, or whatever you
classify them as, because we are modeling a segment of life, in miniature.

Personally I have a list of "I wish I had's" probably a mile long, and on top
of that , "I wish I could buy at a very affordable price", is this in some way
negative, I think not. It's merely the interest and passion that I have for
the hobby. I'm my several decades of collecting, Many of these items from my
wish list have been manufactured, some by coincidence, and others because
Others, and Myself "suggested" them to manufacturers.

In-closing, I fail to see how stating "I wish I had" can in any fashion be
taken as negative, or an insult, unless it is directly stated to belittle or
denounce a certain model, person or builder.

Sincerely, Martin Johnson
S-scale (1/64th) Collector, modeler, and guy with a wish list.

'quotes below'
A very long time S Scaler, some times manufacturer and active member of this
list called me today to say that in 1 fell swoop he sold every S Scale nut bolt
washer coupler and piece of rolling stock he had yesterday. BAM! 1 check was
passed and out the door it went. We are taking a **major** collection here. 1
of the reasons cited for the sell decision was the tone of this list that can
be rather negative for the same subjects multiple times. So negative posts have
real impact. I try my best to keep us on positive "look what I just finished"
posts. Grinding on for days with "I wish we had" is not good for anyone.

Quickly in review.

Peter's PRR RS1 post - Truly awesome and inspiring

"I wish we had_____" Not good!

Thank You,
Bill Lane
