Don,  It's fairly easy just in handling, to pop the rail off the ties.  
This requires one to drill into the tie and use some metal spikes to get 
them back in gauge during installation.  I've also found the contacts 
will eventually get dirty or otherwise fail to make contact.  I have 
replaced about half of my initial installations but have modified most 
of the remaining units.  Modifications include cutting gaps to isolate 
the frog, running jumper wires and replacing the drawbars.
