Yep. All of my SouthWind brass NYC cars and all of my AM smoothside passenger
cars have AM Budd diaphragms glued to the ends. Ron Bashista cordially sells
the diaphragms as separate items and I have spent quite a few hours removing
all the oversize mounting tabs and other bulky aspects of the diaphragms with a
sharp X-acto knife and small wire cutters. After painting and attaching to the
car ends, the improvement is very noticeable. The empty space between the cars
is filled in nicely and when looking at the end of a car, it looks a lot more
realistic. For brass Pullman cars, leave the leaf springs in their original
location. For smoothsides, cut the leaf springs off and lower them a bit to
fit onto the car end appropriately. Have fun....Ed L.
