David... Yes! Just like Ed, all of my passenger cars (some 50 AM smooth sides, JC, & Chester cars) have the "adapted" AM diaphragms with the same modifications Ed suggests. I also remove the "gate", as it is oversized. Rail cutters work well for these modifications, plus a nice flat file to smooth/finish the cuts. You also need to bend the top spring to have it fit flush against the car end.
