All,
I looked and could not 14 or 16 gauge stranded wire in 8+ colors in less than 500 feet rolls. Craigslist has been very good to me lately in finding stuff I wanted. I came across a listing for BX cable with 9 wires that were a mixture of 14 & 16 gauge so I got some of it. It was even delivered to my house! Getting the wires OUT of the BX conduit and separating the colors form the twisted cable was no small affair. Then I soldered the random lengths of wire together to get 1 continuous piece per color. After all that work the 500' rolls were looking rather appealing! I then set out to make a wire rack. I felt like the Professor on Gilligan's Island because I just cobbled together stuff I already had around the house. The wire reels are PCV pipe and foamcore. The pole is a closet rod from a bedroom closet that now has shelves in it. I am now ready to wire my layout! http://www.lanestrains.com/wire_rack.jpg Thank You, Bill Lane Modeling the Mighty Pennsy & PRSL in 1957 in S Scale since 1988 See my finished models at: <http://www.lanestrains.com/> http://www.lanestrains.com Look at what has been made in PRR in S Scale!
